At Formwork Direct our in house technical design office can provide schemes for a wide range of temporary works to suit all client requirements.

Using state of the art CAD software our team of engineers can prepare detailed engineer designs for the entire Formwork Direct product range to compliment the equipment we supply.

From simple wall forms to heavy duty propping and multi story projects our engineers can provide safe, efficient and economical designs for all your formwork, falsework and temporary works needs.

With swift turn around times and many years of experience our dedicated team can provide technical expertise and are able to conduct site visits where necessary to ensure that we are with you every step of the way.

Basis of design work

Formwork Direct carry out all temporary works design following the principles in BS5975 

Code of practice for temporary works procedures and the permissible stress design of falsework.

Designs are also prepared using the following additional documents.

  • Construction design and management regulations 2015.
  • BS EN series 1991 Eurocodes
  • BS 6399 actions on structures particularly part 2 wind loads
  • BS 449 steel work design for allowable stress. Structural use of steelwork in building
  • Formwork a guide to good practice 3rd edition.

 

With reference to other standards that are appropriate to the works being designed, this includes but is not limited to, Foundation and earthworks design, timber, and aluminium design.

Codes of practice and HSE design recommendations appropriate to the works being undertaken.

All design work is carried out using computer aided systems for drawings and calculations, including AutoCAD 2D and 3D systems, Revit and Tekla structures.
